Types of adoption plans

Adoption today is very different from the way it was even 10 years ago. The birthmother and father have many more options like selecting the adoptive parents and deciding how often they would like to see their baby as they grow up.

Open adoption:
  • Begins with the birthparents looking at profiles of potential adoptive couples.
  • You select and meet with the couple who will love, nurture and protect your child.
  • You agree on different levels of openness during and after the adoption.
  • You receive updates and can see your child as they grow up.
Closed adoption:
  • May be selected if the child was conceived under difficult circumstances.
  • You allow the agency to choose the adoptive parents.
  • The adoptive parents receive your medical history but no identifying information.
  • Makes access to you (by your child) limited by the law and must be a mutual agreement when the adult child is of legal age.
We do not provide adoption services at our center, but only refer clients to local adoption agencies, if interested.
