"Jill" walked into our Fairfax location in June. She met with an SLM counselor and discovered her test was positive for pregnancy. Visibly upset, she told the counselor, "I don't see how I can raise a child now. I'm finishing school at night and my job doesn't pay much." Jill also said, "My boyfriend isn't supportive of me and I don't want my child growing up without a father." Her additional reasons to abort were many and varied. Unfortunately, it seemed in Jill's mind that the reasons to abort outweighted reasons to choose life for her child.

A few months later, about to close the file, the same SLM counselor tried calling Jill one more time. To the counselor's surprise, Jill exclaimed, "I didn't go through with the abortion! I'm five months pregnant and I'm really excited about it!"

Sharing further, Jill said, "I left the SLM Center and drove to an abortion clinic to schedule the procedure for the next morning. While I was there, I began talking to one of the nurses and blurted out questions. I asked her how they could kill my baby while I was just laying there. I asked her if the baby had to feel pain." Jill said she left the abortion clinic in turmoil.

That night, a Christian girlfriend who knew about her pregnancy called. The friend promised to be supportive if she continued the pregnancy, and implored her to choose life for her child. Unknown to Jill, the girlfriend contacted a ladies' prayer group who prayed all night for the life of the baby. Jill decided not to have an abortion and is now looking forward to the birth of her baby! Her boyfriend is more supportive now, telling her he was relieved she didn't go through with the abortion.
