APRIL [Names have been changed to respect confidentiality.]

When my doctor told me I was pregnant, I was immediately filled with both joy and fear at the same time.

My mom died when I was young and my father was disappointed in me when I told him I was pregnant. Fortunately, my boyfriend was supportive until after our son was born then he left. I felt very alone and began praying a lot.

A nurse told me about the Pregnancy Help Center. My first impression of the pregnancy center was that the volunteers were kind and caring, and very helpful. I watched several videos on birth and parenting and checked out a lot of books. I soon found that they could help me both spiritually and emotionally.

My father and I have reconciled, but my boyfriend and I have not and at times it can be tough to be a single mom. I have become a stronger person though and really do feel great about having my son. Not only have I felt emotional and spiritual support from the pregnancy center volunteers, they have really helped me with practical items like formula, diapers, clothing, etc.
