My wife Terri told me she was pregnant. I'd gone without kids and I really didn't think I wanted one now---especially as I was getting ready to start a new job in Real Estate.

Selfish? You bet. No denying it. There were places to go, people to see and a whole world waiting ahead for us --- WITHOUT having to bring along a runny-nosed, diaper-stuffed baby!

Terri and I weren't sure what to do. We needed help. Then Terri told me she made an appointment for us to meet with a counselor at the Pregnancy Help Center about our predicament. Well, if you've ever wanted to see what an angel looks like-you don't have to look farther than our counselor. After patiently listening to our story, she told us about the different options available to us. Then she did something I hadn't predicted; she got her friend and asked if we could all pray. And we did.

Afterwards, a feeling came over me that I can't explain. Like a comforting blanket that made us feel safe and provided-for if we have this child. It was a very powerful moment.

Walking out of that office I think I felt a thousand pounds lighter because I KNEW God was on our side and would protect us and guide us as we jumped on board the parenthood train!

In the car, I took Terri's hand and told her my decision had been made and we were going to have this child and we would make it work.
