ROBIN [Names have been changed to respect confidentiality.]

At the age of 17, the summer before my senior year, I got pregnant. My boyfriend wanted to get married but I was frightened and felt I was too young to raise a baby. I wanted to have an abortion so I could finish high school and go on to college before settling down with a family. God had other plans for me. Two times, I was turned away from the abortion clinic. The third time I walked away from the downtown clinic after going into the "back room" and being shown what the procedure entailed. I did not like what I saw and changed my mind.

Though I did not know God, I see now that He was always in control and gave me the answers and directions I desperately needed. Up to that point, my dad and I were not getting along well. But because I didn't get an abortion, we became a small team making a life decision. My parents helped me and God lead me to a home for girls in Pennsylvania, where I gave birth and placed my baby for adoption.

The home was an old farm house converted into a loving Christian home to teach runaway and unwed teenage girls about the real love of God through his son Jesus. I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior and placed my baby in the care of a loving couple. I also graduated high school and came home to begin college. My decision to make an adoption plan gave life to my child and let me accomplish my goals. And now I still get letters and photos of my child once a year.
